From "good wine" to "great wine": from Antiquity to the present

The vine has been cultivated here since Antiquity on land sloping down to the Mediterranean, with northern hillside (AOC red) vineyards and the southern ones of Picpoul. This land is crossed by the Hérault river which flows into the sea at Agde and has given its name to the people: Héraultais. The varieties adapted to the soils and the climate produce very typical wines. Good vins de pays coexist with white (Picpoul de Pinet and Clairette du Languedoc) and red AOC wines which grace the best tables in France and elsewhere (Europe, USA and Japan). They are often praised by famous guides (Hachette, RVF, Parker, Fleurus, etc.).

Pézenas label

The PEZENAS, Coteaux du Languedoc label can now be seen on bottles from private and cooperative wineries producing from the best soils round PĂ©zenas. These are mainly reds, blends of the 5 AOC varieties: Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Cinsault and Carignan.
The southern limestone plateau is the home of the varietal AOC Picpoul de Pinet, a crisp white which goes well with the local shellfish and seafood.

Pézenas-Val d'Hérault: a matter of vintages

Clairette d'Adissan is one of the oldest of French wines. This is a white aperitif or dessert wine. The Adissan winery is noted for its energetic and creative spirit. Local producers of vins de pays use other varieties too: Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Viognier for white; Merlot and Cabernet-Sauvignon for red. Bessan RosĂ© is an interesting discovery. Our winemakers use their talent to offer a wide palette of aromas in wines that are pleasant and good value for money to famous wines of great quality.
